Analysis of BitBots: Alternative entry into robotics

16. Juli 2024 0 Von Katharina Brugger

The work package is an alternative introduction to robotics and the programming of micro:bits and BitBots. Existing programs are analysed, and the behaviour of robots, in this case BitBots, are documented in detail. The introduction is intended to support students in making precise observations, formalising the behaviour of programs and seeing what a robot can do right from the start. The aim is to transfer existing control structures in their heads onto paper and to build a bridge from intuition to programming.

Target Group:From the 5th grade (middle and high school)
Duration:< 1 teaching unit (introductory method)
Subjects:Digitale Grundbildung (Digital Basic Education), Computer Science
Curriculum relevance:Digital Basic Education:
Orientation (5th grade)
describe the principle of input, processing and output by way of example using the components and functionality of a digital device.
Production
(5th grade)
comprehends, executes and independently formulates clear instructions for action (algorithms).
(7th grade) uses examples to understand elements of computational thinking and use them to solve problems.
(8th grade) [Note: The introduction serves as an aid for them learning this]
Design and iteratively develop programs that combine control structures, including nested loops and compound conditionals.
Computer science conceptsCoding, programming
Type of teaching material: Worksheet, Programs
